Brighton September 2018 Meeting
Push the Big Red Planning Button - Linda Wright MBA DipTP
Linda is a planning consultant advising and obtaining planning permission for property developers and investors across England and Wales. She is a key note speaker, writer and guest lecturer at Manchester, Liverpool and Bolton universities
She has enjoyed a successful 35-year career in planning in both the public and private sectors – with the result that she has usually seen most planning problems before. Her pragmatic approach and insight into the planning system have been described as ‘invaluable’. She is truly a gamekeeper turned poacher.
Linda’s presenting style is both informative and entertaining – she says ‘Let’s face it the English planning system can be a minefield so we have to inject a little humour to make it tolerable.’
The USP on her CV is that she worked for several years as a senior planner for the Government on the island of Bermuda.
Linda's presentation for 2018 is ‘Push the Big Red Planning Button’ – where she invites you to ‘press a button’ on some of the planning and property issues trending at the moment. There are 12 topics to choose from.
ALSO... There’s a hole in the bucket – easy ways to save money on your utilities - David Cooper
David Cooper is one of the partners at Full Power Utilities and they are the preferred utilities (gas, electricity, water) supplier for pin and its members.
As the title of his talk suggests, David will be drawing your attention to what is potentially a hole in the bucket that holds your money. Many business owners spend a lot of time and energy generating revenue for themselves, but then forget to manage their costs accordingly. One of these costs (and normally a substantial one), is that of their utilities supply – especially for HMO (Houses in Multiple Occupation)/Serviced Accommodation operators.
During David's talk, he will cover several topics, including:
- The importance of having a strategy for managing utility costs.
- How to get commerical utility rates (cheaper and very easy) for domestic use property
- How to pay only 5% VAT on commercial rates, not 20%
- How to reduce the associated hassle involved in managing your portfolio’s utilities.
- How to protect yourself from price increases and additional charges.
