Hi, I'm Alastair Collier, and it's my pleasure to welcome you to the Kent pin meeting, held on the 1st Thursday of every month.

My property journey began in 2013 with a handful of Buy-to-Let properties. Like many investors, I thought success was simply about buying the right property. I soon discovered that buying the property was often the easy part! It didn't take me long to realise that you can lose money in property just as quickly as you can make it.

That realisation led me to my first Kent pin meeting in 2018 and, looking back, it was one of the best decisions I've made in my property journey.

I quickly realised that if I wanted to build a successful property business, I couldn't do it on my own. I needed to learn from people who had already achieved what I wanted to achieve, invest in my education and surround myself with the right network. More than anything, it gave me the confidence to stop procrastinating and start taking action.

Since then, I've built an award-winning portfolio of fully managed HMOs in Swansea, creating the kind of passive income many of us are looking for when we first get into property. Alongside investing, I also work as a specialist mortgage broker, keeping me close to everything happening in the property world every day.

So, why do I still come to pin every month?

Because no matter how long you've been investing, you never stop learning, and you never know which conversation could lead to your next opportunity. Every month we bring together experienced investors, developers, property professionals and people who are just starting out. We also invite exceptional speakers who openly share practical strategies, real experiences, honest successes and lessons learned along the way. Every meeting is different, so you'll always leave with fresh ideas and a different perspective. But for me, the real value of pin has always been the people in the room.

One thing pin has taught me is that the person you need to help move your property journey forward is probably already in the room — you just haven't met them yet. It might be your next joint venture partner, a trusted builder, solicitor, mortgage broker, planning consultant, or simply another investor who has already solved the problem you're facing. One conversation really can change the direction of your property journey.

I can honestly say I've never left a pin meeting without a new idea, a new contact or renewed motivation to move my property business forward. That's the feeling I hope you'll leave with too.
